Editorial policy
How the content here is researched, sourced, reviewed and corrected, and how advertising is kept out of the advice.

Sourcing
Every factual claim in a guide is traced to a named source, recorded with the date it was last checked. Where a claim is an editorial convention rather than a fact, such as where the boundary between two face shapes falls, it is described as a convention and the threshold this site uses is published.
Where practitioners genuinely disagree, the disagreement is described. Colour analysis in particular is an area where two qualified analysts can reach different conclusions about the same person, and pretending otherwise would be dishonest.
Writing and review
Nothing is published without a person reading it first. Content is not generated and posted unread, and content is not copied or reworded from other sites.
Guides are written to answer the question a visitor actually typed, not to reach a word count. Where a short answer is the correct answer, the answer is short.
Independence from advertising
Advertising is currently disabled and no link on this site earns a commission. The intended funding model is clearly labelled display advertising and, if it is ever introduced, clearly labelled commission on some outbound retailer links at no additional cost to the visitor. Neither would influence a single recommendation.
Tool outputs come from your measurements compared against published thresholds. There is no place in that pipeline where a payment could change the result, and no advertiser has ever been offered one. If a link ever earns a commission it will be disclosed on the page it appears on.
Adverts are placed so they do not obscure a tool, do not shift content as the page loads, and never sit where they could be mistaken for a result or for a navigation control.
Corrections
If something here is wrong we correct it on the page and date the correction rather than editing it away silently. Reports of errors are welcome through the contact page and are read.
If a tool produces a result that looks clearly wrong for you, that is useful information and we would like to hear it. Several thresholds on this site have already been chosen precisely because the alternative produced results that did not match how people described themselves.
Accessibility
Pages are built to meet WCAG 2.1 AA: colour contrast is checked in both light and dark themes, every control is reachable and operable by keyboard, results are announced to screen readers when they appear, and motion is reduced automatically for anyone whose system asks for that.
Colour is never the only way information is conveyed. Where a swatch carries meaning it is also named in text.
